After much speculation, president-elect Donald Trump has announced that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will be his nominee for the secretary of the Health and Human Services department.
After Kennedy dropped out of the presidential race and threw his support behind Trump, the former president promised that he would be involved in shaping the nation’s health policies in some capacity. On one occasion, he said he would let him “go wild” on health, food and medicine, topics that Kennedy has been passionately fighting to raise awareness about.
In a statement announcing the nomination, Trump noted: “The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country.”
Following the announcement, Kennedy said he wants to “clean up corruption,” a problem that has plagued public health agencies for many years.
He said: “I look forward to working with the more than 80,000 employees at HHS to free the agencies from the smothering cloud of corporate capture so they can pursue their mission to make Americans once again the healthiest people on Earth.”
He also reiterated his intention to give Americans proper access to health data so they can make more informed choices.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also fall under the purview of HHS. Kennedy has called the FDA out as recently as last month, vowing on X to end the agency’s “war on public health.”
He listed a number of natural treatments that have been targeted by these agencies in favor of profitable pharmaceuticals.
He wrote: “This includes its aggressive suppression of psychedelics, peptides, stem cells, raw milk, hyperbaric therapies, chelating compounds, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, vitamins, clean foods, sunshine, exercise, nutraceuticals and anything else that advances human health and can’t be patented by Pharma.”
He has also stated his intention to push for the removal of fluoride from the country’s water supply. The chemical has been associated with a number of health problems, including neurodevelopmental disorders, arthritis, reduced IQ in children, thyroid disease and bone cancer. Right now, more than 60 percent of the American population is served by drinking water systems that fluoridate their water.
He has also advocated for regulating the toxic chemicals found in foods and limiting access to processed foods and sodas through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and school lunches.
Kennedy founded the nonprofit Children’s Health Defense, which has worked tirelessly to ensure Americans are aware of the potential side effects of vaccines, in addition to health and environmental news that the mainstream media is unwilling to publish.
Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has been reporting nonstop about what a “dangerous” choice he is because he has been a vocal critic of vaccines. Some of the headlines they’ve been using include “How RFK Jr. could cause an earthquake for American public health” (Politico) and “RFK Jr.’s Conspiracy Theories: Here’s What Trump’s Pick For Health Secretary Has Promised (BBC). NBC News is even reporting that some FDA staffers are considering leaving the agency as a result of the nomination.
FDA Commissioner Robert Califf is also nervous, saying he is “disappointed” by the results of the election and uncertain about the future of the agency.
